Tropical Occasions featured on Style Me Pretty- Real Weddings "Nicole & Mario"

We are happy to share a beautiful wedding we had in May 2011 that was shot by the fabulous Katie Stinnett of Comfort Studios and featured on one of our favorite wedding blogs the fabulous Style Me Pretty

The Wedding of Mario and Nicole was probably one of my favorites from 2011. The reason being was two fold. First they were simply such a wonderful couple and a joy to work with. The second was it challenged me and I love a good challenge. Nicole loves babies breath and well I am (or was) not a fan. You can ask any one of the planners who work for me that I typically tell florist if they add this filler flower into our designs we will not use them again, yep, that bad. However Nicole loved it and I was determined to come up with a design and ideas that would use it and make her love it, as well as me. Nicole's second request was to celebrate her groom and his background. Mario is from Columbia and Nicole wanted to represent his culture, which was the bridge I needed to get the creativity flowing.  I went for a Vintage Cartagena Columbia inspired design. Cartagena is a fabulous Colonial coastal town in Columbia, that to this day is one of my favorite spots I have traveled to. It also reminded me of the movie Original Sin, cobblestone roads, lots of soft white flowing material and sexy and innocent at the same time. All these elements helped me to plan a design that has officially converted me to love this delicate flower, called babies breath, when used right that is. I hope you enjoy this eye candy and it makes you want to travel to Columbia and as well re visit any prejudices you as well may have against babies breath.

A huge thank you to my incredibly talented planners Alessandra for her effortless detail management and Anahi as our head design consultant, for taking a vision I had and making it come to life beautifully. The biggest thank you goes to Nicole and Mario for entrusting us all with such an important day, we were honored to be a part of it.  We wish you many married years (decades) of bliss.  At least as many as your grandparents- Nicole,  whose wedding anniversary, is now yours.

 

Tiffany and Derek- Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica.

Tiffany & Derek wanted a wedding that was classy, fun and had a backdrop that celebrated mother nature. AKA the gorgeous rain forest of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. Tiffany has a love for bling, so we used it throughout the entire design. My favorite bling was however her oh so fabulous Jimmy Choo shoes. A fun time for guests was a factor that was as well important to them both and based on the dancing and hysterical photo booth photos you will see below, I think that mission was well accomplished!

It is always so rewarding to work with incredible clients like Jennifer and Cristian. Then to top it, covering the wedding was the fabulous Michael Segal who is simply as lovely as his photos. To then have it featured on Grace Ormonde. Well all I can say is moments like these make me think I may be the luckiest girl in the world.

A huge thank you to Michael for taking what was a very simple and elegant event, but showing what good energy, true love and fabulous people do to a wedding, they make it amazing.  Grace Ormonde - I have been a fan of yours since the very first magazine hit the stands, so honored to be featured with you.

Shannon & Devin's Modern Tropical Wedding at Punto De Vista, Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica

Shannon and Devin are a young and fun couple from St Louis, Missouri. Shannon works as an attorney and Devin in the finance field. Both have highly demanding jobs, so they live by the motto "work hard and play hard" 

Whenever they get time off they are on plane jetting to a new and fabulous location around the world. We were so happy they chose Costa Rica as the destination for their big day. Having seen and visited many different countries and being such adventure seekers we were honored that they chose our little country of pura vida paradise in which to wed. 

As always I had a blast working with Shannon on creating a design that really reflected her and Devin's personalities. The style of wedding they wanted was a bold look and as Shannon said with a celebration of the tropics but a design that made guests think "crazy fun" just like her and Devin like to live their lives. I loved what we came up with and I will never forget the e mail I got the day after my design consult call with Devin. She wrote to tell me that she was "giddy with excitement over what I had come up with" those kinds of e mails are what continue to reassure me that I have the greatest job on earth!

One other element that was very important to both Devin and Shannon was good food. They are die hard foodies and wanted a meal that would leave guests amazed. So we enlisted the fabulous Chef Torsten of ONO Cuisine and their goal was met, The meal was "sensational", "delicious" and "unbelievable" as many guests were heard saying.

The day of the wedding we had what would be described as a tropical rainstorm by the locals,  but many of the wedding guest asked if it was an actual Hurricane?  The Ceremony luckily took place on the roof top terrace with gorgeous ocean and rain forest views and luckily right before the storm hit. After the ceremony,  came the rain and as the storm got stronger the entire planned space (even with a tent) for the reception was quickly soaked. Karen Ogden my amazing head planner and mid pacific manager, gathered the entire group of vendors on site and within the hour the entire reception was re-located to the houses main floor. This space ended up working fabulously and one more reason why we love this venue.  It has so much space and each and every room it boasts is equally as great for any events setting. By the photos you would never guess a storm had hit, but as Devin and Shannon said, it was as they wanted just another element that made the event "Crazy Fun"

And even with a party that raged on into the next day, Devin and Shannon still looked radiant at the day after shoot on Manuel Antonio's beautiful Playitas beach.

Real Wedding- Staci & Cayce, Playa Conchal, Costa Rica

Staci and Cayce are as you will see a absolute beautiful couple. They live in the mile high city of Denver Colorado, where Staci teaches high-school and Cayce is a flight for life Helicopter pilot. They are both fun and full of life people and they wanted a wedding that represented just that. They had heard Costa Rica was the place for adventure seekers, so it was the obvious choice as their destination wedding. As luck would have it, I reside in Boulder, Colorado, so we were able to plan their entire wedding via face to face meetings and planning pow wows. I so enjoyed working with them and getting to know them on a personal level. They are both, along with their families, truly wonderful people. I think the wedding turned out exactly as we planned; Fun for all (especially the wedding party and the pre ceremony cocktails!) a rocking party- check out those dancing pics, beautiful (how could it not be with a bride as stunning as Staci) and a good dose of emotional (there were many of tears of joy) Please enjoy the fabulous photos courtesy of the lovely Katie Stinnet of Comfort Studio

Graham & Ever, Real Wedding, Santa Teresa Costa Rica

Graham and Ever were married in beautiful Santa Teresa Beach on the Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. Not only is this my personal favorite area of the country, they also chose my favorite venue as well. The wedding was held at the Fabulous luxury estate of Casa Capitan. I love this estate so much it is where I celebrated my 40th birthday last year with all my nearest and dearest and where I am currently planning the wedding of my only sibling. This wedding was co planned by myself and my amazing business partner, Anahi Contreras from my Sister company Santa Teresa Beach Weddings.

Graham and Ever are both so incredibly beautiful people - both physically and internally.  They both glow with kindness and sincerity as do their entire families. I remember at the end of their wedding, Anahi and I shared a moment and agreed that people like them and their guests are what make us love what we do. Having helped such good people plan and then celebrate a day they will always remember, is an honor and such a joy for us as planner and designers.

I still wanted to share some of my favorite images from their wedding and showcase not only a beautiful event, but one that brings back such fond memories for both Anahi and I and simply makes me smile.

Planning the design with Graham and her mother was a blast. Graham sent me many pictures and inspirational pieces. She is a lot like me and simply loves all beautiful things (So much so, she works at SAKS and was wearing a to die for wedding gown by one of my favorite designers Marchesa!) So I took all the beautiful elements she sent and we came up with what you will see here- I like to call it Bohemian Chic, meets modern preppy. Hope you enjoy!

Graham and Ever (and each and every one of your lovely family members and guests!) We cannot thank you enough for your warm and welcoming personalities. As we always strive to allow our clients to have zero stress on their wedding day, and be able to feel like a guest. You also did the same for us. We  both felt as if we were guests at your event. You are such wonderful people and we were so honored to be part of your wedding celebration.

Sister Company Santa Teresa Beach Weddings Featured on Destination Inspirations Blog

Great Wedding Video by Thirty3 Studios

Please enjoy a recent video created by the oh so talented Mario Arroyo at Thirty 3 Studios. Mario helped us design a fabulous web site for my sister company Santa Teresa Beach Weddings He as well was the creator of the two videos that show us at work, you can see those here Video 1 of our team and Video 2 of our team at work

Mario approached me last year and said he really wanted to get into the Wedding film business (please note when they are this good it is an insult to call it Videography!) We gave him some pointers and here you will see what he has created. He is on his way into a new career as a VERY talented Wedding Film Producer. Real Weddings - Sabrina and Phil - April 2011- Tamarindo, Costa Rica

Sabrina and Phil are a stunning, chic couple from New York City.   It was truly a pleasure to work with their fun, unique style.  They started the festivities a few days before the nuptials with group surf lessons and a welcome BBQ provided by Casual Cooking for 40 guests at Sabrina's rented house.

The soft lines of the bride's dress was enhanced with embroidered lace giving it a traditional twist on a modern gown.  Her bouquet of white orchids, lillies and roses with  just a hint of green kept the sophisticated, clean lines that carried throughout the design.  They married on the sunlit beach under a bamboo altar covered by a floating white silk canopy.  The simplicity was an amazing reflection of their love.

Special touches like the lace garter with an amethyst colored brooch and Sabrina's hand written thank you speech once again lent to the traditional aspect of the couple. I loved the book marks that described the different activities for their guests as well as all the special touches that went into their plans. The invite was a full guide book to Costa Rica, amping up the excitement for each and every guest that attended.  It was very well thought out and an awesome courtesy to the people who traveled to be with them on their special day.

The reception was breathtaking.  Sabrina had asked us to bring in a very organic look that also celebrated a beach side affair. Woven chargers held a single succulent flower atop the crisp white napkins welcoming the guests to dine.  Bamboo folding chairs and driftwood centerpices flanked by white votive candles in glass sparkled on the table.  White lights twinkled in the trees as night fell.  Square wood vases held white dendrobiums and greens in a most artful design.  The natural woven burlap criss cross material that served as an overlay to the white tablecloths on each of the tables was really in keeping with the simple, natural theme the couple were going for. 

I loved the simplicity of this natural design not only because it was a true reflection of the way Sabrina and Phil live their lives, but it actually added to the beauty of the surroundings that is Costa Rica!  We were all very pleased with the outcome.
